- Guns n' Wankers
Guns n' Wankers was a
punk rock band, formed by ex-members of British punk band Snuff, and rock bandThe Wildhearts in the early 1990s. The band consisted ofDuncan Redmonds (Vocals, guitar ),Patrice Walters (drums, vocals) andJoolz Dean (Bass guitar , vocals). The three formed the band on the same day Snuff played their farewell gig (now reformed) at theKilburn National and Walters was released of duty with The Wildhearts. On the off chance, Duncan gave Walters a call after seeing him play in a band calledThe Milk Monitors a few years before. In turn, Walters called his old mate Joolz Dean and the line-up was complete. Originally the band were to be called Cunts n' Wankers but they thought better of it.After touring up and down the
United Kingdom with the likes ofLeatherface ,NOFX andWat_Tyler_(band) , the band set about recording demos. This coincided with a tour of the Basque region inSpain , where copies of the demos sold like hot cakes. On their return, Sean of Watt Tyler and the man behindRugger Bugger Records put up the modest money to record a Guns n' Wankers album, which was recorded and produced byAndy Davies inHitchin ,Herts UK. The recordings were originally released on Rugger Bugger Records as three 7" EPs: Hardcore, Pop, and Metal (A Silly EP was free with an issue of Fear & Loathing 'zine in very limited numbers). However, whenNOFX ’sFat Mike showed an interest in releasing the album on legendaryUS punk labelFat Wreck Chords , he dispensed with all the material from Metal and one from Hardcore. The remainder was released as an eight track album calledFor Dancing And Listening onFat Wreck Chords . The album was well received and continues to be highly regarded by the Punk fraternity. Unfortunately, soon after the band split due to the reformation ofSnuff . Pat Walters went on to play with singer-songwriterMarc Carroll in a band calledThe Hormones and Joolz formed punk bandDogpiss . However, some Guns n' Wankers recordings remain un-released and plans are in the offing to correct this Fact|date=August 2007.
