Colonial (passenger train)

Colonial (passenger train)

The "Colonial" was a name given to several passenger trains.
*The Pennsylvania Railroad's "Colonial" ran between Washington, DC and New York City, and was last operated in 1973 by Amtrak.
*In 1976 Amtrak started operating another train called the "Colonial", running between Newport News, Virginia and New York. After various changes, it was renamed the "Old Dominion" in 1992, and is now part of the "Virginia Service" of Amtrak's "Regional".
*In 1997 Amtrak again restored the "Colonial" name for a Richmond, Virginia-New York train; this is also part of the "Regional"'s "Virginia Service" now.
