- Jean-Marc Carisse
Jean-Marc Carisse is a Canadian
photographer . He has covered the political scene onParliament Hill for over 25 years in both the Prime Minister's Office and the National Liberal Caucus. Many of his photographs hang in the halls, rooms and offices of Parliament. They have appeared on the covers and pages of history and political books (including his own "Privileged Access w/ Trudeau, Turner & Chrétien" Warwick Publ. 2000), magazines including Time, Paris Match and Maclean's, as well as TV documentaries and biographies.He graduated with a BA in Visual Arts from the
University of Ottawa . Carisse has donated approximately 69,000 negatives several years ago to the National Archives of Canada and his P.M.Chrétien collection (approximately 400,000 negatives) was donated in2005 . He plans on donating more of the Trudeau-Chrétien years in the future.His recent photo exhibit "My Trudeau Years", which has been extended twice by popular demand, reflects his professional relationship with Trudeau and their mutual respect. Eight weeks before his passing, Trudeau met with him and agreed to be photographed once more on his last day at his
Heenan Blaikie office inMontreal , choosing his poses as he did so many times before. It was their final sitting.Publications
Carisse published “Privileged Access with Trudeau, Turner and Chrétien” 2000, a coffee table book. It was voted 'best political book of the year' by Hill Times. It contains hundreds of photographs featuring his shadowing of the three prime ministers.

*"My Trudeau Years" (
October 25 ,2002 toApril 24 ,2003 ) at theLibrary and Archives of Canada , showcased a collection of 57 mostly unpublished photographs that chronicle Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau as Prime Minister, Opposition Leader and as private citizen, over the last quarter century. It began touring at thePavilion Gallery Museum inWinnipeg on June, 2003.
*"The Charter. It’s Ours. It’s Us." at theCanadian Museum of Civilization , until the end of April 2003. Exhibit since transferred in permanence to the Department of Justice, Ottawa.
