"The Michigan Times" is the
student newspaper at theUniversity of Michigan-Flint . Having been founded in 1956 as the "University News", "The Michigan Times" has seen notables such as filmmakerMichael Moore Fact|date=June 2007 and American Idol finalistLaKisha Jones Fact|date=February 2007 on its staff.In 2003, the university's literary magazine entitled "Qua" was incorporated in "The Michigan Times". It has since become an autonomous publication once again, and reached students in paperback form in April 2008 under the leadership of Ashley Treadwell.
"The Michigan Times" has a print run of 3,000 papers per 16 Editions each academic year (volume).
Former Layout Editor and writer John McKay, under the guidance of Editor-in-Chief
Vanessa Ferguson spearheaded the publication's foray into the digital world, formally launching the Michigan Times website, [http://www.themichigantimes.com www.themichigantimes.com] in 2003. It marked the first time the newspaper has been available in a digital format.In 2007, student
