Peter Huchthausen

Peter Huchthausen is a former United States Navy officer and the author of several maritime books. After serving on destroyers for several years in the Atlantic Ocean, he became the chief engineer of the "USS Orleck", operating off the coast of Vietnam. He later commanded a unit of ten river patrol boats (PBRs) in the Mekong Delta. After the Vietnam War Huchthausen served as an analyst on Soviet Navy submarines, a specialist on anti-submarine warfare, and held a position in the Defense Intelligence Agency. He was the senior U.S. Naval Attaché in Yugoslavia, Romania, and the Soviet Union. After retirement he began his research and successful writing career.Peter Huchthausen passed away at his home in France on Friday, July 11, 2008.
