Jan Henryk Wołodkowicz ( _fr. Henry Jean-Witold Wolodkowicz) (1765-1825) was a prominent member of the Polish nobility and
military officer , who after thepartitions of Poland emigrated toFrance and aided theFrench Revolution , becoming an officer andcavalry commander in theFrench Army . From 1807 he served in the military ofDuchy of Warsaw , a temporary Polish state created and allied withNapoleon Bonaparte . Member of the FrenchLa Grande Armée in theNapoleon's Invasion of Russia , he was taken prisoner byRussia ns during the battle of Smolensk in 1812 and deported toSiberia .
