John Carty (Irish politician)

John Carty (born 12 August 1950) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician from Knock in County Mayo.cite web |url=http://oireachtas.ie/members-hist/default.asp?housetype=1&HouseNum=23&MemberID=1769&ConstID=205 |title=Mr. John Carty |work=Oireachtas Members Database |accessdate=2008-02-18] A former Teachta Dála (TD), he is currently a member of the 23rd Seanad Éireann.

Carty was elected in the 1999 local elections as a member of Mayo County Council for the Claremorris electoral area. At the 2002 general election, he was elected to Dáil Éireann foir the Mayo constituency.
