Baptist Bible College has its origins in a May 1950 meeting of Baptist ministers at the Texas Hotel in Fort Worth. In the summer of 1950 land was bought at the intersection of Summit and Kearney roads in Springfield, Missouri. This former five-acre city park was turned into dormitories, which opened on
September 5 ,1950 . From the founding until 1975,George Beauchamp Vick , pastor of the Temple Baptist Church ofDetroit, Michigan (currently NorthRidge Church), was the president of the college.The vice president of the college, W. E. Dowell, Sr., then became the president until the fall of 1985. In 2001, BBC received probationary accreditation from the
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools . Mike Randall was installed as the fifth president onFebruary 20 ,2002 . At the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year, Jim Edge took office. He has since developed positive growth in the school.Financial Information
Tuition is $13,610 per year for a student taking between 12 - 18 hours of coursework. Room and board costs are approximately $5,400 for students residing on-campus. BBC offers many of its degrees to both male and female students. However, some degree programs differ depending upon the gender of the student with some programs not available at all to students of a different gender. For example, BBC offers a Bachelor of Arts/Sciences with a major in Church Education to men only. Also, some majors include minors that are available only to members of a single gender. For example, BBC's Bachelor of Arts/Sciences with a major in Missions is only available with a Youth Minor for male students.
