- Eugene Kamenka
Eugene Kamenka (1928–1995) was born in
Cologne in 1928 and taken toAustralia in 1937. Kamenka family isOdessa descent. He was educated at theSydney Technical High School , and went on to take first-class honours inphilosophy at theUniversity of Sydney under John Anderson. His doctoral thesis, "The Ethical Foundations ofMarxism ", for theAustralian National University , was published in 1962. Kamenka has lectured in philosophy at theUniversity of Singapore and lectured and reaearched inEurope ,North America and most countries inAsia ; he was a Professor and the Head of the "History of Ideas" at the "Institute of Advanced Studies" of the Australian National University, and lived inCanberra .His other works include:
