George Klacsanzky

George Klacsanzky (1956-2003) was an American poet, musician, artist, philosopher, and humanitarian. Founder and editor of "Haiku Zasshi Zo", the first haiku journal on the west coast of the United States, part of the American Haiku Movement of the 1980s. Klacsanzky featured in several books such as "Haiku Moment: An Anthology of Contemporary North America Haiku" and "Journeys to the Interior: American Versions of Haibun" while also releasing various chapbooks of poetry and journalism.

For twelve years Klacsanzky ran a refugee council. Fact|date=November 2007

At eighteen, he was initiated into Zen Buddhism while staying in a monastery for over a year as a Zen monk. After this experience, his writings and personality reflected his spiritual insight.
