Robert E. Cochran

Robert E. Cochran

Robert E. Cochran (1810- March 6, 1836), was a Republic of Texas soldier who died at the Battle of the Alamo.

Cochran was born in New Jersey, and had lived in both Boston, Massachusetts and New Orleans, Louisiana before moving to Texas in the early 1830s. For a time he was in business with Texas settler Ammon Underwood, before joining the Texan Army at the outbreak of the Texas Revolution, and fought in the Siege of Bexar in the artillery under the command of Capt. William R. Carey. Cochran County, Texas is named for him.
