WVXF is a CBS-affiliated, full service television station in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands transmitting over analog channel 17. The station has a construction permit for its digital facilities on channel 48, but has been unable to put the signal on the air due to technical difficulties at the tower site. The station is owned by LKK Group and is branded as CBS Caribbean.

Cable subscribers in the U.S. Virgin Islands can watch WVXF on channel 9. The station can also be seen in Puerto Rico on DirecTV and OneLink Communications cable, and as part of the Puerto Rico locals package on Dish Network .

History

Prior to WVXF's sign-on in 2001, CBS programming was seen on Charlotte Amalie's WBNB-TV, channel 10. However, that station left the air for good following Hurricane Hugo in 1989, when its transmitter was destroyed and the cash-strapped Benedek Broadcasting (owner of several small- and mid-market network affiliates on the mainland) could not afford to rebuild. Between 1989 and 2001, CBS service was available via satellite from New York (WCBS-TV), Raleigh (WRAL-TV), and/or Erie (WSEE-TV). WVXF does not air a newscast.
