Fruitland Park, Mississippi

Fruitland Park is a small unincorporated town in southern Forrest County, Mississippi, United States. It is part of the Hattiesburg, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. Camp Tiak, a Boy Scouts of America camp, is located in Fruitland Park.

History

The land that Fruitland Park occupies was originally owned by the J. E. North Lumber Company. The F. B. Mills Farm Company of Syracuse, New York bought the land in 1913 for the purpose of growing figs. The area eventually became a fruit and trucking center.

One of the early settlers was Mr. John A. Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson served in the Second Boer War and in an honor guard during the crowning of King Edwards, Prince of Wales.
