John Dewar (academic)

Professor John Dewar is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia [http://www.griffith.edu.au/vc/] .

Previously, from 2002-2005, Dewar was the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Business and Law [http://www.griffith.edu.au/vc/] . Dewar was also the Dean of the Griffith law school from 1999 to 2002 [http://www.griffith.edu.au/vc/] .

Career outside Griffith

Professor Dewar is an internationally known family law specialist. He was a member of the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Family Law Pathways Advisory Group from 2000-2001 and a former member and Chair of the Family Law Council [http://www.griffith.edu.au/vc/] .

Before working at Griffith University, Dewar taught at the Universities of Lancaster and Warwick in the UK, and was Fellow and Tutor in Law at Hertford College, Oxford. He also worked for law firms in London [http://www.griffith.edu.au/vc/] .
