Seattle Erotic Art Festival

Seattle Erotic Art Festival

The Seattle Erotic Art Festival is an annual event that displays artworks of an erotic nature in various media. The weekend long event features paintings, photography, and sculptures from all over the world. The event also features a "Costume Gala" and performance art such as burlesque. There is an art auction and festival store. The wide variety of art subjects include nudity of all genders, surrealist imagery, homoeroticism, and BDSM themes.

EAF 2007

The 2007 festival was held from March 16 to March 18, at the Fenix Performance Arts Theater in Seattle, Washington.

SEAF 2007 displayed a comprehensive collection of international contemporary fine art that celebrates the diversity of human sexual expression and the incredible creativity with which artists approach the subject of erotica. All media will be represented: painting, photography, sculpture, assemblage, prints, installations, performance art and video.

Barbara Shaiman, Director of the Seattle Art Museum Gallery, Patricia Ridenour, instructor at the Photographic Center Northwest and Jim McDonald, independent art curator and owner of Jim McDonald Fine Arts Services graciously served as the SEAF 2007 jury. They selected work based on quality of execution, originality of subject and depth of emotion from almost 1,000 pieces submitted by hundreds of artists worldwide.

Invited artists included HYPNOX, Randy Wood, Rebecca Raven, Demi Raven, Ellen Forney, Chris Crites, John Santerineross, Midori with special guests, photographer Steve Diet Goedde and performance artist Coralee Lynn Rose. SEAF is delighted to once again feature guest curator Pet Silvia of the New York gallery Art at Large, who brings erotic art notables Annie Sprinkle, Michael Rosen, Carolyn Weltman, Brian Viveros, Charles Gatewood, Barry Steely, Rik Garrett, Michele Serchuk, Georgie Tier, HR GIGER and Seattle's own Erin Frost.

History

SEAF was founded in 2002 by the Seattle Sex Positive Community Center to promote freedom of sexuality, speech and creativity through the erotic expression of fine art and is presented by the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture.

In just five years, SEAF has become a leader in the international trend to popularize erotic art and make it accessible to general audiences and valuable to collectors. SEAF artists enjoy significant sales in the Exhibition, Auction and particularly through the widely popular Festival Store, which features small work, prints, oddities, collectibles and related merchandise. To date, over 10,000 people have been a part of this pre-eminent event.
