Pembroke College Boat Club (Cambridge)
- Pembroke College Boat Club (Cambridge)
Pembroke College Boat Club is the rowing club for members of Pembroke College, Cambridge. Over the last century, crews from Pembroke have held the headship of the men's Lent Bumps on four occasions, and the headship of the men's May Bumps ten times. The men's 1st VIII spent their entire history in the 1st division of both events, apart from poor performances in the Lent Bumps 2000 and the May Bumps 2003, and the crew is usually found in the top half of the division. The women's 1st VIII first raced in 1985, and have not yet taken the headship of the Lent Bumps, but took the headship of the May Bumps in 1997, 1998, 2006 and 2008.
In Lent Bumps 2008, both PCBC's first men's and women's eights won blades - or bumped the boat in front on all four days of racing. Both men's and women's second eights bumped three times and rowed over once, and for the first time in PCBC's (aged) boatman's memory not a single Pembroke boat was bumped.
May Bumps 2008 produced another successful bumps campaign with the first women's eight taking the headship on the first day and retaining it in order to win their blades. The men's first eight bumped twice and rowed over twice to finish up two places. Sadly, PCBC could not keep up its clean sheet with the fifth men's eight conceding a bump on day Thursday.
