CKSO

CKSO

CKSO was historically the call sign of four different broadcast stations in Sudbury, Ontario. Three of the four remain in operation under different call signs, while the fourth is now defunct.

* CJRQ was CKSO-AM from 1935 to 1990,
* CIGM was CKSO-FM from 1965 to 1977,
* CICI-TV was CKSO-TV, Canada's first privately owned television station, from 1953 to 1980,
* CKSO-FM, a Christian music station, adopted the call sign in 2003, but went out of business in 2006.

All three of the earlier stations were co-owned at the time that they used the CKSO call sign, and changed their call signs following a series of ownership and format changes. The later one had no ownership affiliation with any of the older stations.

A road in the McFarlane Lake neighbourhood of Sudbury is named "CKSO Road", because the original CKSO's transmitters were located there.
