Nasibi

Nasibi

Nasibi (Arabic: ناصبي‎ ; plural Nawasib) is an Islamic term used by the Shias for someone whom they claim hate the Ahlul Bayt of the prophet Muhammad, their followers and others whom they consider as heretic. This term may be directed at extremist Sunnis or Sufis or other sects deemed by the Shi'a as deviant.[1]

The Shi'a cite the following hadith by Sahih Muslim:

Zirr reported that 'Ali observed: By Him Who split up the seed and created something living, the Apostle (Mohammed) gave me a promise that no one but a believer would love me, and none but a hypocrite would nurse a grudge against me.'[2]

Other similar terms levelled by fundamentalist Shia's to those who are considered heretics include yazeedi and wahhabi.[3]
