Mobilization for Global Justice

The Mobilization for Global Justice (or MGJ) is a [Washington, DC Area [Washington, D.C.] , USA, based activist group working on issues of social and economic justice. The group is perhaps best known for its demonstrations held during the meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, demanding cancellation of the debt owed to the two multilateral institutions. MGJ was formed in order to protest and conduct direct action at the April 16, 2000 Joint Ministerial Meeting of the World Bank and IMF. The major day of action was known as A16, and followed the shutdown on the World Trade Organization the preceding November.
