Dottie Attie

Dotty Attie (born 1938) is an American painter. Educated at the Philadelphia College of Art, she has been exhibiting in museums and galleries worldwide since 1972. Her paintings are in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum, and the Brooklyn Museum.

Born in New Jersey, Attie is best known for her voyeuristic reproductions of the paintings of the Old Masters presented with accompanying text to create a narrative. Based on the works of painters such as Caravaggio, Courbet, Eakins, and Ingres, the multipanel paintings explore the depictions of the body in the history of art.
