- Nagabhata I
-
Nagabhata I (750–780) replaced Harsha Vardhana as ruler when Gurjara Pratihara took over western India from the Pushpabhuti empire. The Gurjara Pratihara was an Indian dynasty which was ruled by Gujjars or Gurjars in Northern India during 6th to the 12th century.[1]
Nagabhatta I ruled over Ujjain and defended western India from the Arab invasion and carried his arms up to Baroach. He was defeated by the Rashtrakuta ruler Dantidurga. His kingdom extended from Gujarat, Malwa and parts of Rajasthan. He left a powerful principality for his successors.[2]
