Harald Weinrich (born 1927 in
Wismar ) is a Germanclassical scholar , scholar of Romance philology and philosopher, known for the breadth of his writings. He is emeritus professor of theCollège de France , and held the chair ofRomance literature from 1992 to 1998 [http://www.college-de-france.fr/default/EN/all/ins_pro_en/index.htm] .His doctorate and
Habilitation were from theUniversity of Münster . He took a founding chair at the newUniversity of Bielefeld in 1968. From 1978 to 1992 he was at theUniversity of Munich in a chair of German as Foreign Language.He was won many literary prizes, including the 1992
Karl-Vossler-Preis and the 1997Hansischer Goethe-Preis . His books are widely translated in European languages.Works
