- Saur valley
Pithoragarh town inUttarakhand state ofIndia ,due to its scenic beauty,is often referred to as miniatureKashmir . Pithoragarh is situated in a small valley,which is 8 km long and 5 km wide, known as Saur valley (Hindi-सोर घाटी) which resemblesKashmir valley . The valley is surrounded by beautiful mountains.The valley slopes gently to the south-east and bisected into north and south by a tubuler ridge of slates,limestones and greenstone originating in the mountains to the north-west and branching down to the south-east. It is situated at an altitude of 1650 metres above sea level. One can have panoramic views of vast snow range extending fromTrishuli ,Nanda Devi ,Panchchuli Group, andAppi ofNepal from the place named Chandak located nearby on a hill around 2000 metres.Most Manu is a place Near Chandak, where annual fair takes place.----History
Doti Reign
Previously Soar was under Doti Kings of Nepal.They were represented by nine Feudal Kings.After these Kings Soar is also known as" Na Thukur Soar".Bam Kins defeated all these kings.
Forts of Doti Kings
Unchakot, Bhatkot, Bailerkot, Udaypurkot, Dungrakot, Sahajkot, Bamuakot, Dewarkot, Dunikot-only a few remnants of these forts are still present.
Chand Rulars
In 1449 Chand rule established in the valley and Peeru or Prithivi Gosaein built a fort called Pithora Garh.Later this place is known after that name.
