Precipitation (horse)

Precipitation was an incredibly influential sire, and is found in the pedigrees of many sport horses today.

Precipitation was out of Double Life, a foundation mare of the famous British stud, Someries Stud. Although plain, Double Life was a good racehorse and exceptional broodmare. Hurry On, the sire of Precipitation, sired 3 winners of the Epsom Derby during the 1920s.

Precipitation did well on the track, winning 7 races and £18,419. He won the 1937 Ascot Gold Cup.Stonebridge "Great Horses" p. 450] He was incredibly successful at stud, producing both exceptional racehorses and sport horses. During his stud career, which began in 1938, he was one of the leading sires in England, and produced over 50 stakes winners.

In New Zealand, his blood lives on through the offspring of three great sons: Count Rendered, Summertime and Agricola.

Precipitation might be most famous for siring sport horses, including Furioso, the sire of the incredibly influential Furioso II and Cor de la Bryere.
