The Cardiff Cobras are a member of the British Collegiate American Football League (BCAFL)'s Southern Conference-Western Division. The Cobras are one of the oldest teams in the Southern Conference and one of its most successful. Cardiff ranks second in BCAFL history in total regular season wins (behind the Loughborough Aces, tied for second in total number of playoff appearances (with the Leeds Celtics), and tied for the most division titles. Despite Cardiff's regular season success, the Cobras have won only two conference championships and have shared one BCAFL title (due to the 0-0 tie with the Hull Sharks in College Bowl II) in thirteen playoff appearances.

Cardiff is one of two teams in the BCAFL that represent universities in Wales.
