Brian Joseph Donnelly (born
March 2 ,1946 ) of Dorchester,Boston was aU.S. Representative fromMassachusetts from 1979 to 1993. He was a Democrat.Donnelly attended private schools in Suffolk County. He graduated from Catholic Memorial High School, West Roxbury, in 1963. He received a B.S. from
Boston University in 1970. He was a teacher and coach in the Boston public schools. He was a member of theMassachusetts House of Representatives , 1973–1978, where he served as assistant majority leader in 1977–1978.Donnelly was elected as a Democrat to the 96th and to the six succeeding Congresses (
January 3 ,1979 –January 3 ,1993 ), but was not a candidate for renomination in 1992 to the One Hundred Third Congress.In 1994, he was named U.S. Ambassador to
Trinidad and Tobago . *Mr Donnelly, who had to quit his post as high commissioner to the Cook Islands because of ill health, passed away at 2.20pm Thursday September 25. He did not make public the nature of his illness.
