Preng Jakova

Preng Jakova (27 June 1917 in Shkodër - 16 September 1969) was an Albanian composer, and studied clarinet at the Conservatory "Santa Cecilia" of Rome. He composed the operas "Mirka" in 1958 and "Scanderberg" in 1968, for which he is known as the creator of the Albanian national opera. His operas were influenced by traditional Italian opera, the belcanto style and Albanian folk song.
