John Biguenet

John Biguenet is an O. Henry Award winning author and professor of English at Loyola University - New Orleans.

John Biguenet's fiction has appeared in such publications as "Esquire", "Granta", "Playboy", "Story", and "". The winner of an O. Henry Award for short fiction, he lives in New Orleans. Ecco published his debut collection of stories, "The Torturer's Apprentice", in 2001. "Oyster" is his first novel.

Biguenet's fiction, poetry, and essays have appeared in numerous journals as well as in various anthologies, and he is the author of several books. Biguenet edited over 50 issues of The New Orleans Review. His radio play Wunmale was broadcast on German and Austrian radio networks. His work has received several awards and distinctions, and his stories have been cited in several publications. He serves as president of the American Literary Translators Association. Formerly Writer-in-Residence at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and at the University of Texas at Dallas, he is currently the Robert Hunter Distinguished Professor at Loyola University - New Orleans, where he has been honored with the institution's Dux Academicus award for outstanding teaching, scholarship, and service.
