Peter Courtenay (died September 23 1492) was an English prelate. He was a grandnephew of Richard Courtenay.

Educated at Exeter College, Oxford, Peter became dean of Windsor, then Dean of Exeter [ [http://www.dsnell.zynet.co.uk/Oliver/Deans.htmlAbout Lives of the Bishops of Exeter] ] June 14 1478 he was elected Bishop of Exeter and was consecrated on November 8 1478.Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 247] He was translated January 29 1487 to the see of Winchester in succession to William Waynflete.Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 277] With Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham, and others he attempted to raise a rebellion against Richard III in 1483, and fled to Brittany when this enterprise failed. Courtenay was restored to his dignities and estates in 1485 by Henry VII, whom he had accompanied to England,Fact|date=April 2008 and was Keeper of the Privy Seal from 1485 to 1487.Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 96]

He died on the 22 September 1492.
