Ba Win

U Ba Win (10 June 1901, Nat Mauk19 July 1947) was a Burmese politician. He was the eldest brother of Aung San and was assassinated, together with Aung San during an Executive Council meeting on July 19, 1947. The day of his death, 19 July, is celebrated as A-za-ni (Martyr) Day. He was Minister of Ministry of Trade.

Biography

He was born in 10 June 1901 in Nat Mauk. He is eldest son of nine children of U Pha, a lawyer, and his wife Daw Suu. His birth name is Mg San Tin. He is the eldest brother of Aung San. He learned at Sayagyi U Wa Gyi School in Nat Mauk and he passed ancient Myanmar seventh standard. He got Bsc from University of Rangoon. While he did as High School Teacher at National School in Taung Twin Gyi, at 1936 he married with Daw Khin Saw, daughter of U An, owner of lands and Daw Shwe May. He did as headmaster in KEM National School in Phyu between 1941 to 1942. He was Minister of Ministry of Trade. He died in July 19, 1947 and he left his wife, Daw Khin Saw and his children, daughter Daw Tin Hla Win, Sons U Saw Win, U Aye Wi, daughter Daw Khin Mya Win, Son Dr. Sein Win and U Htwe Win.
