Hotel Georgia is a historic hotel located at 801 West Georgia street in Downtown
Vancouver . It was opened onMay 7 1927 , as a 12 storey building. It was most recently branded as theCrowne Plaza Hotel Georgia with 313 rooms, by ownerAllied Hotel Properties Inc . In 1998, it underwent a major restoration and renovation. The building and many portions of the interior are designated as a protected heritage property by the City of Vancouver. Sold in early 2007, the hotel is currently undergoing restoration and redevelopment.Famous guests who have stayed at the Georgia include:

Currently the hotel's parking structure has been demolished and a new
high-rise building is being constructed in its place. When complete in 2011, it is expected to be the 3rd tallest tower in the city, after the Living Shangri-La and Ritz Carlton Tower.
