Daiki Niwa

Daiki Niwa

Daiki Niwa (丹羽 大樹 "Niwa Daiki") is a fictional character from the anime and manga series D.N.Angel. In the anime, he is voiced in Japanese by Takeshi Aono and in English by John Swasey. In the Wink drama CDs, he is voiced by Eiji Maruyama, while his younger voice is done by Mugihito.

Brief description

Daiki is Daisuke's grandfather and Emiko's father. Daiki was Dark 40 years before the series takes place. Unlike Daisuke, he worked many times without Dark, gaining the ability to use wings in human form much sooner than Daisuke does. He took the task of stealing during his time as Dark as though it was his job. In his youth, Daiki has bowl-shaped, crimson hair that later becomes grey and spiked like his grandson's in old age. He appears more often in the manga than he does in the anime series. It seems that his second crush was Menou from love at first sight, since he would always visits and plays with her whenever he finished a job as a Phantom Thief. She in turn seems to like him as well, because she waited for him to come visit her even after death. Because of Daisuke's uncanny resemblance to Daiki when he was young, she mistook him for her friend and thanked him for always helping her and being her friend.

Personality

Daiki is Daisuke Niwa’s eccentric grandfather. With the aid of his daughter, Emiko, he prepares Daisuke for his destiny. The last one, before Daisuke, of the Niwa family to transform into Dark. During the Anime, he randomly wanders around town gaining information about Dark's potential targets.
