Thomas Michael Zbikowski (born May 22, 1985 in city-state|Arlington Heights|Illinois) is an American football safety for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Ravens in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football for the University of Notre Dame.

Early years

He grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and attended Buffalo Grove High School in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

College career

Zbikowski did not play as a freshman and started as a sophomore. He was named a third team All-American safety at the conclusion of the 2006 regular season after being named third team All-American as a punt returner in 2005.

Professional career

Pre-draft

Tom Zbikowski was invited to the 2008 NFL scouting combine and worked out with the Defensive Backs. He measured in at 5 feet 11 inches and weighed in at 211 pounds. He impressed scouts and helped his draft stock by showing his athleticism including running what was then reported to be a a 4.52 forty yard dash. He also had a 32.5 inch vertical, a 10 feet 2 inch broad jump and pounded out 24 bench reps. He was rated the second overall SS by NFLdraftscout.com.

Baltimore Ravens

Zbikowski was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round (86th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. On July 22, he signed a three-year, $1.666 million contract that included a $516,000 signing bonus.

Boxing

On June 10, 2006, Zbikowski made his professional boxing debut at Madison Square Garden in New York City, beating his opponent, Robert Bell of Akron, Ohio, by TKO within 49 seconds of the first round. The fight was compliant with NCAA guidelines. Bell, who is an Ohio State fan, wore an Ohio State football jersey into the ring. Zbikowski will continue his boxing career after the 2006 football season. He signed a three fight contract and has one fight left. Zbikowski's second fight was against Ryan St. Germaine on March 6, 2007 at the Century Center in South Bend, Indiana.
