Jeux de la communication

" [http://www.jeuxdela.com Les Jeux de la communication] " ( [http://www.jeuxdela.com Communication Games] ) are an annual meeting between several Canadian Universities' communication department. Such as Law Games or Business Games, the "Jeux de la com" lasts on several days where the numerous delegation of students compete in events related to their field of studies, such as media studies, journalism, advertising, public relations and communications.

Established in 1996 by Université Laval, the Communications Games' goal is to appreciate the quality of Canadian university communications courses and programs through its students. Over the course of the past years, it has become an essential rendez-vous for every communications student wishing to gain some first-hand experience — a definite plus in this field of study. In 1996, six Universities were present at the Games : Université Laval, Université de Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, University of Ottawa, Université du Québec à Montréal and Université de Moncton. UQTR and Concordia University integrated the games respectively in 1998 and 2006. Between 1998 and 2000, Université de Moncton was incapable of participating, due mainly to financial reasons.

Twelve events were presented at the 2006 games at Université Laval : Advertising, "Show Culturel", Génies en herbe, Improvisation, Journalistic interview, Journalistic writing, Oral debate, Oral exposé, Public relations, Radio, Sport and Video.

UQAM won 7 of the 10 games (1997, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006), Université de Montréal won once (1998), UQTR won once (2001) and Université d'Ottawa also won once (2002). Université de Sherbroke and UQAM both finished in first place in 2007.

Each university is renowned to be strong in one event year after year. UQTR often wins the sport event, Moncton is often first for radio, UQAM is strong in journalistic events, Montreal won most Oral debate events and drinking contests, and Laval won the first edition of public relations event.
