Plot

The Cardassians decide to set up a base on the opposite side of the Bajoran wormhole, a move that could threaten security for the entirety of the Federation. The forces of Deep Space Nine race to construct a base themselves. The situation is complicated by the remergence of a violent fanatic from the war-torn past of second-in-command, Kira Nerys.

Events come to a head with the station's doctor, Julian Bashir, trapped in the wormhole itself and Nerys and the fanatic alone on the temporary new station. Nerys must confront the man herself, with no outside support.
