- Gjuro Baglivi
Gjuro Baglivi, also Giorgio Baglivi, (
September 8 1668 inRagusa –June 15 1707 inRome ) was an ethnic Armenian from theRepublic of Ragusa who's work as a doctor and medical researcher, anatomist and earlypathologist was done inItaly . He made important contributions to clinical education, based on his own medical practice, and in "De Fibra Motrice " advanced the theory that the solid parts of organs are more crucial to their good functioning than their fluids.His collected works written in the Latin language had more than 20 editions, translated into Italian, French, German and English.
Académie Française accepted him as "membre d'honneur". Baglivi was also a member of theRoyal Society in London and of theAccademia dell'Arcadia .
