Gwen Davis (born
May 11 ,1936 ) is an Americannovelist andpoet .Though she has written a number of bestselling novels, her most famous is "Touching", published in 1971. Davis based the story on her real life experience with a masters-level psychologist (grandfathered in before a Ph.D was required) who encouraged naked analysis. The controversial novel compelled the therapist, Paul Bindrim, to file suit against Davis and her publisher, Doubleday. Davis lost the suit, and was held accountable by her publisher for legal expenses. Though the incident stunted Davis' career, she has continued to write a number of novels and poetry compilations.
