BAB intro|52 is an

Its westernmost part serves as an importantcommuter route intoDüsseldorf . The autobahn becomesBundesstraße 7 shortly before theRheinkniebrücke , which leads into the Düsseldorf city centre.Traffic of the A52 is routed through the Düsseldorf city centre on the B8 and B1 secondary roads up to Düsseldorf-Mörsenbroich, where the A52 becomes a road of its own again.
The autobahn has three parts:
#Niederkrüchten-Elmpt -Mönchengladbach - Düsseldorf-Heerdt
#Düsseldorf -Mörsenbroich - DreieckEssen -Ost
#Gladbeck -Gelsenkirchen -Marl -Nord.It is planned to connect the BAB with the Dutch highway system between Elmpt and Niederkrüchten. An extension connecting the interchange Essen-Ost with the interchange Gladbeck has been proposed for several years, but has not been built yet, due to the need for several kilometers of tunnels below densly populated areas.
