Frederick Henry Norman

Frederick Henry Norman (1839-1916) was an English merchant banker and a director of the merchant bank Brown, Shipley & Co.. The Norman family have a long history in English banking.

He was the fourth son of George Warde Norman (1793-1882), a director of the Bank of England from 1821 to 1872. [Bertrand Gille. He married Lina Susan Penelope Collet (d. 1950), a daughter of Sir Mark Wilks Collet, 1st Baronet, of St. Clere, Ightham,Sevenoaks, on 15 November 1870. [Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, p. 14] They had three children together:
# Sir Montagu Norman (the 1st Baron Norman (6 September 18714 February 1950) [Henry Clay. "Lord Norman". St. Martin's Press, 1957. 495 pp. According to Clay, Montagu was the eldest child.] , a long serving Governor of the Bank of England) and
#Ronald Collet Norman (1873–5 December 1963), (who chaired the BBC and the London County Council).
