Place Saint-Sulpice

The large square of Place Saint Sulpice, which is dominated on the east side by the enormous church of Saint-Sulpice, was built in 1754 in the quiet, tranquil gardens of the Latin Quarter of the VIe arrondissement of Paris.

Features

In addition to the church, the square features:
* the Fountain of the Four Bishops, built in the center of the Square in 1844 and designed by the architect Joachim Visconti. The Fountains features the statue of four bishops on each of its sides: Bossuet, Fénelon, Fléchier and Massillon
* pink flowering chestnut trees
* the Café de la Mairie, a rendezvous of writers and students. The Café was featured in the 1990 film "La Discrète", directed by Christian Vincent, and starring Fabrice Luchini and Judith Henry
* the "mairie" (city hall) of the VIe arrondissement

Transportation

The square is served by the Saint-Sulpice station of the Paris Métro.
