- Amariah Brigham
Dr. Amariah Brigham (1798 - 1849) was an American
psychiatrist and one the founding members in 1844 of the TheAssociation of Medical Superintendents of American Institutions for the Insane , which eventually became TheAmerican Psychiatric Association . While serving as the first director of theUtica Psychiatric Center , Dr. Brigham launched and became the first editor of its official journal, "The American Journal of Insanity" (now called "The American Journal of Psychiatry").External links
