- Everybody Wins
"Everybody Wins" is a play written by
Arthur Miller , who also wrote the screenplay for the film of the same name directed byKarel Reisz released in 1990 starringDebra Winger andNick Nolte .Filmed primarily in
Norwich, Connecticut , the film received abysmal reviews. However, Norwich residents were interested and excited to be filmed and to watch the film. Some of the featured sites of filming include: Norwich City Hall, theNorwich Free Academy , the Harbor, Park Church, Canterbury Turnpike, Washington Street and Washington Street Extension, the now-renovated Mobil station, downtown Norwich, as well as many identifiable homes along the city streets of Norwich. In one scene, set in downtown Norwich, against a backdrop of a colorful (yet no longer existing) mural, a notable Norwich family appears. They were paid $200 for their participation. The concluding scene was likely the most anticipated; it features a stately white house on top of a hill off Washington Street Extension."Everybody Wins" is a game of skill based on bouncing beer bottlecaps off a coffee table onto the screen area of a television or directly above it. Hitting the screen area results in a 'touchdown' scoring six points for the thrower. A cap bouncing over the television scores a 'field goal' worth three points. If a touchdown is scored, the player sitting to the left of the thrower can elect to steal the extra point by finishing their beer.
