The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) is a public agency that runs the
Las Vegas Convention Center ,Cashman Center , andCashman Field and is responsible for theadvertising campaign s for theClark County, Nevada area.The fourteen member board is appointed by various elected governing bodies in the County. Funding is provided by a room tax on all hotels in the county. The Authority is responsible "attracting visitors by promoting Las Vegas as the world's most desirable destination for leisure and business travel.fact|date=July 2008
Activities
The authority works to bring events to the Las Vegas area, sometimes by providing funds to subsidize events. These events include:
*TheNBA 2007 All-star game
*The 2006 Tennis Channel Open Tennis TournamentThe authority is also responsible for the advertising campaigns for Las Vegas. Working with the same advertising company

Since the mid-1970s, the LVCVA has published a Visitor Profile Study, based on thousands of personal interviews with visitors. The latest study (covering the year to 31 Dec 2005) [http://www.lvcva.com/press/statistics-facts/index.jsp?whichDept=stats] shows that:
*Las Vegas hosted a record-breaking 38.5 million visitors in 2005 with 39.1 million projected for 2006.
*The overall average age of a Las Vegas visitor is 47.7 years old, with visitors in the 30 to 39 age range increasing to 20 percent of all visitors.
*The average gaming budget per trip, per person, was $627 (up from $545 in 2004).The latter figure implies that more than $24.5 billion was wagered by visitors during 2005. The gaming revenue for Las Vegas during 2005 was $7.6 billion (31 per cent of the amount wagered).
Members
The authority is governed by a 13 member board. Of those 7 are required to be elected officials and the other 6 are appointed by the
Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce .
