William Curran (Maryland)

William Curran was a Democratic politician from Baltimore, Maryland. He served as delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Maryland in 1924 and 1944, and as Attorney General of Maryland from 1945-1946.

William Curran [aka] as willie curran was a criminal lawyer who practiced law in Baltimore City during the decades of 1920,30, and 40's of the twentieth century!He was an astute street politician that acquired his political powers through identification of Baltimore's working man proletariat!His political powers first extended through out east Baltimore's marble step row house but ultimately pulluated into a citywide democratic organization that controlled courthouse clerks who were elected citywide!He as a criminal lawyer could name his own fee because of his influence and control of circuit court judges who also were elected citywide! In addition he controlled by political proxy most of the legislative votes from Baltimore city members of the legislature who were controlled by his sub district ward bosses!Baltimore political historians widely accept him and recognize him as the last of the cities citywide political bosses!
