JR East
The station is staffed by JR employees. There is a ticket office, a travel center, and a food stand located in a station building.
Sanriku Railway
The Sanriku Railway is not a JR train station, though it is next to the JR station in Miyako. The ticket booth is not staffed full time, so an automatic ticket machine is often needed for entry to the station. The train is often full with students who attend the Miyako Kita (North) High School in Taro. In the summer, the Sanriku has a train which travels from Miyako all the way to Kuji.
