Torys LLP is a highly respected international business law firm with 300 legal professionals in Toronto and New York offices. Torys offers seamless cross-border services to clients on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border and globally.

Torys is known for its seamless cross-border services in a range of areas, including mergers and acquisitions; corporate and capital markets; litigation and dispute resolution; restructuring and insolvency; taxation; competition and antitrust; environmental, health and safety; debt finance and lending; project development and finance; managedassets; private equity and venture capital; financial institutions; pension and employment; intellectual property; technology and communications; life sciences; real estate; infrastructure and energy; and personal client services. Torys regularly advises many of Canada's most prominent families; Among Torys' corporate/commercial lawyers are some of the best-known, most highly respected lawyers in Canada.

The firm was founded in 1941 by prominent Toronto business lawyer John Stewart Donald Tory. John S.D. Tory graduated at the top of his class at Osgoode Hall, and earned a J.D. from Harvard University. He practised with the W.N. Tilley law firm in Toronto for a few years and then launched his own firm with a focus on corporate law. In 1954, John S.D. Tory's sons, James M. Tory and John A. Tory, the father of Ontario politician John H. Tory, joined the firm.

In the 1960s the firm was renamed Tory Tory DesLauriers & Binnington. In 2000, Tory Tory DesLauriers & Binnington merged with the New York law firm Haythe & Curley, whose predecessor firm was established in 1948. The firm rebranded to create Torys LLP.

Torys is known as one of the "seven sisters" that make up the seven top-tier law firms in Toronto.
