Samaniego

Samaniego is a town and municipality located in the province of Araba (Álava), in the Basque Country (autonomous community), northern Spain. There is only one hotel in the village: namely the Palacio de Samaniego, a converted 18th century Obiscopal Palace. See [http://www.palaciosamaniego.com www.palaciosamaniego.com] This is a good base for exploring the surrounding towns and villages of the Rioja Alavesa (Basque part) with its numerous vineyards, bodegas etc. There are little or no restaurants in this village with only one bar attached to the village community centre, but Laguardia about a ten minute drive east, is a good place to dine with a host of restuarnts and tapas bars etc to choose from
