mammal of the middleCretaceous . It was a member of the also extinct order ofMultituberculata . It lived inNorth America during theMesozoic , also known as the "age of thedinosaur s". Whether it belongs toPlagiaulacida ,Cimolodonta , or neither, is presently unclear. The genus "Ameribaatar" ("American hero") was named by Eaton and Cifelli in 2001.The primary species, "Ameribaatar zofiae", was also named by Eaton and Cifelli. Its
fossil remains were discovered in strata dating to the Albian-Cenomanian (Lower-UpperCretaceous ) boundary in the Cedar Mountain Formation,Utah (USA ).The species name honours Zofia Kielan-Jaworowska.
