John C. White

John C. White (1924 - 1995) was Chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 1978 to 1981. He helped the Democrats retain their Majority in the 1978 elections. The Republicans took control of the presidency and the senate in the 1980 elections, however the Democrats did retain their majority in the United States House of Representatives under the leadership of Tip O'Neill. John White was DNC chairman at a time when Democrats controlled the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives and a majority of governorships.
