Prior to 1945 it was inGermany . As at 2006, the town has a population of 1,884.The castle of Łupki lies very close to the town's center. Before it recently crumbled, the Łupki castle's only remaining tower was visible from the town, and the picture above shows the former view of Wleń from the top of the tower.
